Black Owned Beauty/Fashion Gift Guide

For Black Friday, I decided to commit to supporting a few of the black owned businesses that I'd been eyeing all year. Not only do these companies offer unique items, as far as makeup/cosmetics with a black owned company it is much easier to find the shades, finishes, and products that best suit my skin tone. I wanted to take the time to share some of the items I chose to maybe inspire your gift giving for the holiday season ---Or you can drop this post as a hint to your family members and friends to suggest what you'd like to receive.

1. ONYX Box

Subscription based services have become the newest way to expanding the reach of a brand. ONYX Box is the second subscription service that I've utilized and I am in love with it. The first subscription service I'd ever tried was Ipsy. Ipsy is a subscription service in which you pay $10 for a bag of sample/full-sized cosmetics products. Though this service was awesome as well, I found that I could not use many of the lip products and hair products that I'd receive. The shades were off and the hair products were not at all designed for my hair texture. Though the cost was only $10 I felt as though I was losing $2-3 per box with the unused products.

Then on Black Friday I stumbled across the ONYX Box advertisement. I was going to unsubscribe from Ipsy by the end of the year anyway but as soon as I found this ad I knew that it was fate. The subscription is $25 per month which may seem steep however, the products and the size of the products that I received are more than worth it. I received 2 lip products, one sample size and one full size both are beautiful and wearable shades for my skintone. 3 hair products which all of which I've tried on my hair and actually contribute to the quality of my hair, an eyeliner from Ofra cosmetics, a facial cleanser and a full sized makeup refreshing spray with a coupon for site that the spray is from.

I've used just about every single item in this box on a daily basis which makes it well worth the $25 price tag. They are currently running a special for Christmas if you'd like to gift anyone with a subscription. Follow this link ------------>

2. Beauty Bakerie

I've been craving some Beauty Bakerie goodies since this past summer. They are a Black Owned cosmetics company. Though they sell a multitude of products, they are perhaps most noted for their Liquid Matte Lip Whips. I purchased 3 shades a berry, a pink and a nude. These lippies sell for $20 a piece. which in my opinion is reasonable for the amount of the product you receive and how long lasting the lippies are.

From left to right: I like to Chai Chai, Bubble Gum Crisis, and Raspberry Tiramisu

Each of the shades suits my skin tone beautifully but more importantly these lippies do not budge once they are on your lips until you are ready to remove them. For this weekend they are offering FREE TWO DAY SHIPPING for orders $60 and over! Follow this link to the Beauty Bakerie site and get some sweet gifts for your loved ones and yourself. ------------> (the discounted shipping applies to U.S. orders only and is only mentioned once you are ready to check out but it definitely does apply).

3. Girls Empowerment Circle- Online Merch Shop with a Cause

The Girls Empowerment Circle is an organization based in Brooklyn, New York founded in 2011 by Pennsylvania State University Alumna, Sakena Sampson Girls Empowerment Circle (GEC) aims to serve young women in low-income communities. Their mission is to empower, educate and mentor young women of color.

To raise funding that helps to support the many programs and services that the GEC hosts, they have created fashionable merchandise that is for sale on their website. The merchandise promotes the mantra, "I am Beautiful &Capable." You can purchase either a t-shirt, which I will picture below, or an adorable wristlet via their Instagram @girlsempowermentcircle.

4.Blck Elphant

For the unapologetically black young man or young woman in your life I highly recommend this t-shirt by Blck Elphant Clothing. This tee is simple but makes a bold statement. Dress it down with leggings and converse or dress it up with some colorful accessories and heels. The shirt comes in Black and White and is being sold for $18 up to a a size 3XL. Follow the link to their etsy store to grab yours today, ---------->

5. BEEQ BOX F*CK Boy Repellant

If you follow me on Snap Chat then you already know that recently I've been raving about one particular product that has my glow on point. This product is manufactured by a young lady who is attending University of Maryland. She sells gorgeous cosmetic grade glitters and even has a subscription box. However, I fell head over heels in love with her F*ck Boy Repellant Priming and Setting Spray in the color Legendary. (You can tell by how much product I've already used since receiving it 2 weeks ago.)

With gold and bronze shimmers and glitters this has my\skin looking every bit of sun kissed in December. I not only use it underneath my makeup, I also use it to set my cheek highlight when I want an extra disrespectful glow. This young lady is taking the makeup world singlehandedly by storm she's been featured on a number of blogs and on the Huffington Post. I highly recommend gifting someone or yourself with some F*ckboy Repellant today, you will not regret it.

Thanks for all of your support!!
