Gotta Glow Part 1- High End
Yaaaaaasssss Glow Push Through!!! .....Is what you'll be saying once you get your hands on these highlighters.
A good highlighter can do so many things for your face including adding definition, making features stand out, making your complexion appear more supple, and just pulling your beat together. Remember, the purpose of a highlight is to mimic the color and placement of the light that reflects off of your skin. Many of my highlighters are a rose gold rather than a pure gold because champagne or pure gold highlighters can make my red/ clay undertones look ashy or just off. Be sure that if you can, you try out any highlighters you may be looking at on your face and not just on your hand. You'll be surprised by what flatters your complexion and what does not.
There are also levels to the glow game. You may want a more subtle glow or you may choose to blind everyone. Either way, these products well help you fulfill your glow cravings.
1. The All in One-
For some, taking the extra step to do both a blush and highlighter is not practical. That being said, this Becca Blushed Copper Skin Perfector is a great time saving product. This powder is a red toned copper making it perfect to function as a blush on paler or more golden toned skin. However, I use this as a highlighter for my more coral/red undertone skin. On days when I am pressed for time, I dust this on the tops of my cheek bones and my temples for a great subtle glow. However, on days when I am going for something stronger, I will pair this underneath a more metallic gold highlight and it works beautifully. Though the rose gold packaging was limited edition, the Blushed Copper Skin Perfector may still be purchased at Sephora or on Becca.com as a luminous blush.
2. The Glitter Glow
If you are headed out for a night on the town or are rocking a super neutral beat that needs some pizzazz, this highlighter is the one for you. The Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder is, in my opinion, a true pale rose gold highlighter. Despite the frosty appearance when swatched, this highlighter is gorgeous on deeper complexions when applied with a light hand. I enjoy using this for accentuating the center most areas of my face (i.e. bridge of my nose, under my brows, inner corner and my cupid's bow.) In the summer it is especially gorgeous when combined with a natural bronze glow.
3. Golden Girl
If you have a golden undertone and want to kick it up a notch, You Need This In Your Life!!! I love to use this Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood highlighter wet and with a small dense brush for that disrespectful blinding glow, pictured here is the #79 Sephora Small Contour brush. This pure champagne highlighter makes your skin gleam. For my deeper skin clients I love to use this with brick toned blushes for the most natural finish or I will apply it first and lightly dust a skin tone finishing powder on top for the most effortless look.
There are three more highlighters that I want to add to this post. I have to retake the photos and did not want to postpone getting this up. Coming later are a few of my favorite MAC Highlighters: My Favorite Highlighter of the Moment MAC Taraji Glow (Top Left) , MAC Global Glow (Bottom Left) and MAC Uplifting.
