Chocolate that Won't Melt?
Summer is right around the corner, but the heat has already arrived, and the humidity is drenching the air. While I love a full beat face, even in the summer, this humidity has me rethinking my summer slay. Here are just a few of the products I am loving so far and my tips to keep your makeup from melting all summer long.
If you are an oily girl, finding a primer that works for you is a summer essential. A quality mattifying primer will allow you to rock bb creams, full coverage foundations, or powder without having to constantly powder down throughout the day.
My favorite primer at the moment is the Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer. Among its ingredients list, this product contains hyaluronic acid known for hydrating, revitalizing and smoothing the skin. This primer is light weight and helps foundation to glide onto a smooth surface.
2. Light Weight-Maximum Coverage
Summer for me means for most days I want a light weight product with build-able coverage, meaning that I can layer small amounts of product where I need it most rather than loading my entire face with foundation. My go to complexion product in the summer is the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream.I have used this product for years and though it is not matte, it has a comfortable wear. This BB Cream can be built up to medium coverage however, there are areas of your face that need more coverage,I opt for a light weight full coverage concealer like the MAC Cosmetics Pro Long Wear or the LA Girl HD Pro Concealers .
3. Eye Candy
If you're the girl that just cannot deal with feeling product on your face but you still want to switch up your look for the summer, playing up your eyes is just the way to make it work. This summer we are loving rich jewel tones, golds and bronzes.
I've found that finding a go to palette that includes everything you need for an eye look is extremely helpful. The Tartelette In Bloom Palette is a great brown girl friendly palette that has everything you need to make a simple summer look. You can also use this palette along with color shadows. My go to for color shadows are the Juvias Place palettes. Amazing pigmentation and well worth the money. These palettes also come in mini and full sizes to cater to your makeup needs.
4. Glow Baby
If you didn't already know, I love a good glow. In the summer time, as we break out the shorts and the off the shoulder tops, don't be afraid to highlight......ERRYWHERE. The Artist Couture loose shimmers are by far some off my favorite highlighters on the market. Mix them with oil to create a shimmery body oil, pour them in your setting spray, or just dust them on your face for a natural glow by the pool. You cannot go wrong with a summer glow.
I hope that this post helps to inspire your summer looks. If you try out any of these techniques or products, post them on Instagram with the hashtag #OperationChocolateDrop so we can share the love. At the end of June, I will choose one photo randomly to win a summer inspired prize.
